HAWTHORN has upgraded rookie listed players Jonathon Ceglar and Will Langford to the senior list after placing injured pair Ryan Schoenmakers and Matt Suckling on the long-term injury list.

Both Schoenmakers and Suckling are recovering from knee reconstructions and won’t return this season.

Ceglar was drafted by the Hawks with selection 15 overall in the 2012 Rookie Draft after training with the Club in the lead up to the draft and impressing ruck coach, Damian Monkhorst.

A 204cm ruckman, Ceglar spent two seasons developing at Collingwood before being cut by the Pies at the end of 2012 without making his AFL debut.

Monkhorst, impressed with Ceglar’s ruckwork and commitment to football because an advocate for the ruckman in the lead-up to the rookie draft and has continued to work closely with him at training.

Ceglar has impressed in the VFL this season, with his ruck work and ability to push forward.

Langford, son of Club great Chris Langford is a defender who has continued to develop his game since being rookie-listed by the Hawks under the NSW Scholarship scheme in 2011.

At 187cm, Langford has built a reputation at Hawthorn as being a player who never shirks at the contest and plays a high intensity brand of football.

Recently, he has enjoyed more time up the ground and starred for Box Hill last weekend in its win over Werribee.

Langford gathered 22 possessions, had eight inside 50s and a game-high eight clearances.

Both Ceglar and Langford are a chance to make their AFL debut on Sunday after being named in the 25-man squad for Hawthorn’s clash against Brisbane on Sunday at Aurora Stadium.

The squad of 25 will be trimmed to 22 and released on hawthornfc.com.au at 5pm on Friday.
