KEY forward Jarryd Roughead and small defender Taylor Duryea are both a chance to play against Sydney Swans on Saturday night, according to GM – Football Operations Chris Fagan.

Vice-captain Roughead has missed the Hawks’ past two matches after having a melanoma removed from his bottom lip, while Duryea was subbed out with a shoulder injury in Sunday’s win against Fremantle.

Fagan said the club expected to have more of an indication on both players by Thursday.

“(Taylor) got a bit of a bang on the shoulder (against Fremantle) - nothing serious, no structural damage,” he said.

“We just need to wait and see how he trains later in the week – it’s one of those things that we’re not sure of at this point in time.

“Hopefully, fingers crossed – he’s been in great form – he’ll be right to play.”

Fagan said Roughead was meeting with specialists this afternoon, which could impact his availability for the grand final rematch.

“A little bit depends on what they say as to whether or not he’ll be available to play on the weekend or whether he needs to take another week for that lip to heal up,” he said.

“It’s a bit like Taylor Duryea - we’re not really going to know until Thursday I would have thought.”

Fagan said first-year Hawk James Frawley was progressing well with his shoulder injury, but would not be available this week.

He anticipated the key defender could be right to return the following week.
