Box Hill defeated Casey Scorpions by 74 points on Sunday to return to the top of the VFL ladder.

Coach Marco Bello was impressed with the strong performances of some senior-listed Hawks.

Tim O’Brien

“Tim kicked a couple of goals which was really pleasing. He played majority up forward but in the last quarter went back and actually took some really strong marks for us defensively.”

Jonathan Simpkin

“Jonathan continues to find the football and work hard there and had 13 kicks, 18 handballs, but really used it cleverly between the arcs and allowed us to go forward.”

Angus Litherland

“Angus was the AFL emergency and flew over to WA and flew back so that was a big challenge for him and he had a great game both on the defensive aspect but went through the wings as well in the last quarter.”

Brendan Whitecross

“Brendan again starts to have some continuity in his game, he finished with 21 disposals and some really good forward thrusts for us, impacting the scoreboard on a couple of occasions.”

Marc Pittonet

“Looking at the stats, it probably wouldn’t look as if Marc had a massive game in terms of output stats-wise, but he had to compete with the likes of Mark Jamar and Jake Spencer, so two big, experienced ruckmen - and I thought he held his own on the weekend, so that was great to see.”

Sam Grimley

“Sam also finished with four (alongside Box Hill-listed player Patrick Lawlor), so again from a forwards perspective we were able to share it around but its good that we can get different goals from different avenues."
