FORWARD James Sicily celebrated his first win in the brown and gold against Brisbane Lions on Saturday.

It was Sicily's second AFL match - after he made his debut earlier this year in the Hawks' narrow loss to Essendon in Round 2.

He finished with 16 disposals, six marks and two goals, providing the Hawks with another mobile marking option near goal.

He was one of 12 goalkickers for the Hawks against the Lions and was pleased to contribute.

"I debuted in Round 2 and it’s now Round 22, so it’s been a long wait to get back in," Sicily said after the game.

"It was a good win and we had a lot of contributors."

Sicily has enjoyed a strong year at VFL level, kicking 25 goals in 14 games, and now has three goals from his two AFL appearances.

After missing two weeks with a left hand injury, Sicily returned through the VFL with a glove and kicked eight goals.

While he has to wear the glove for a couple more weeks, it's not something he's upset about.

"I have to wear it, but I probably will keep it - it's giving me some good fortune," Sicily said.
