STAR Hawk Jack Gunston has taken another step towards Grand Final selection after successfully completing a lengthy training session at Waverley Park today.

The key forward – who missed the Hawks’ semi final and preliminary final victories after injuring his ankle in the qualifying final – remains in contention to take on West Coast Eagles on Saturday.

Gunston trained for approximately 40-45 minutes, under the supervision of Head Fitness Coach Andrew Russell.

GM – Football Operations Chris Fagan said the 23-year-old was doing everything he could to prove his fitness for the final match of the season.

“We’re really happy with how Jack is progressing with his recovery,” Fagan said.

“He completed a solid training session today, which included some run throughs, sprint work, ball skills and goalkicking.

“He will now rest on Tuesday and Wednesday, before training again on Thursday.”

Gunston, Hawthorn’s leading goalkicker in 2015, has kicked 53 goals in 23 matches this season.
