HAWTHORN has secured former Melbourne tall Jack Fitzpatrick in exchange for pick No.94.

Capable of playing in the ruck and as a forward, Fitzpatrick played 22 games for the Demons between 2011 and 2015, kicking 24 goals.

Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said the 200-centimetre big man was a good pick up for the club.

“With the retirement of David Hale, we have been on the lookout for a tall forward-ruckman and we’re happy to have secured Jack’s services,” Wright said.

He played three senior games for the Demons last season, but featured at VFL level for Casey Scorpions on 13 occasions and finished as runner-up in their best and fairest.

Fitzpatrick enjoyed his best season at AFL level in 2013, playing 11 consecutive games and kicking 15 goals, including a career-best four goals against Brisbane Lions in Round 17.

The 24-year-old was originally recruited by the Demons with pick 50 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft.
