GET to know a bit more about new recruit, Jack Fitzpatrick, who joined the Hawks in this year’s trade period.

What are your strengths as a player?

I think for a big guy I’m quite quick, so that’s probably the number one thing, that I’m pretty hard to match up on from that point of view.

Where can you improve?

To be honest, pretty much the lot. I don’t think there’s one area in my game that I’m perfect at, so I just want to work on everything.

Who did you support growing up?

I was actually a Hawthorn supporter.

Who was your favourite AFL player growing up?

Shane Crawford, and then once he got a bit older, probably Jordan Lewis – I’ll probably cop a bit for saying that.

Who’s your favourite non-AFL sportsperson?

I’m a massive Liverpool fan and love the EPL, so Steven Gerrard for mine.

Favourite meal?

I love a good steak – it’s hard to go past a good steak, a Squires Loft or a Meat and Wine Co.

Any pre-game rituals?

I run out towards the back, not so much because I have to, but because I like to pee just before I run out and feel as empty as possible, so generally I’m at the back of the race.

Favourite band or artist?

I’m not a massive music guy – but I’ve seen a couple of concerts recently that have been good, Coldplay and The Rolling Stones. I’m into the older type of stuff.

Favourite movie?

Plenty – A Knight’s Tale, Dodgeball, The Castle, Wedding Crashers…. Anything with some comedy.

Who would play you in a movie?

I’ve got a man-crush on Ryan Gosling, so I’d love it to be him.

Hobbies outside of footy?

I love other sports – watching cricket, EPL, all that sort of stuff. Apart from that, just computer games and stock-standard hanging out with mates.

Did you play many sports growing up?

I played one season of cricket, because I was terrible, but before that I used to do Little Athletics. I was a decent hurdler.

What’s your signature dish if you’re trying to impress someone?

I might duck down to the old take away and chuck it in the fridge, pretend I’ve cooked it and take credit for it. Or maybe a steak and vegies.

Favourite holiday destination?

I’ve been to New Zealand and that was awesome, it’s probably my favourite place that I’ve gone to. I’d love to go to the UK and Ireland – the pub music and that would be fun.

Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate

Fruit or vegetables?

Fruit

Cats or dogs?

Dogs, easily.

Summer or winter?

Winter – because there’s games.

Goals for 2016?

I’d love to be able to play one game for the Hawks, then turn that into two and two into however many I can.
