The AFL Match Review Panel has cleared Sam Mitchell, but fined Blake Hardwick after Saturday's NAB Challenge match against North Melbourne.

Contact between Mitchell and North Melbourne’s Ben Jacobs from the first quarter of the match was assessed, but Mitchell was found to have no case to answer.

The MRP said Mitchell made high contact to Jacobs with two open hands pushing into his opponent’s face and a free kick was paid to Jacobs at the time, with North Melbourne being awarded advantage.

It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.

Hardwick was charged with striking North Melbourne's Todd Goldstein in the fourth quarter.

He has been offered a $1500 sanction, which can be reduced to a $1000 sanction with an early guilty plea.

The MRP assessed the incident as intentional conduct with low impact to the body. Hardwick has no applicable record which impacts the penalty, allowing an early plea to enable him to accept a $1000 sanction.
