The changes

FORMER Hawk Mitch Hallahan is one of three inclusions for Gold Coast Suns for Sunday's clash.

Hallahan, Aaron Hall and Jarrad Grant are in for the Suns, replacing Sean Lemmens (hamstring), Jesse Lonergan (illness) and Kade Kolodjashnij (concussion).

Adam Saad was expected to return from a hamstring injury, but was withdrawn on Friday afternoon after suffering hamstring tightness.

What to expect

The Suns are building a very promising playing group, and already their younger players are beginning to become stars of the game.

Although Jaeger O’Meara and David Swallow have been cruelled by injury over the last two years, the Suns’ midfield can go head to head with the best, with Gary Ablett, Dion Prestia and Michael Rischitelli supported by the likes of Aaron Hall and Touk Miller.

Their forward line can also be potent on their day, with one of the best young forwards in the game in Tom Lynch spearheading the Suns’ attack, and young talls Sam Day and Peter Wright also providing tall targets.

The Suns' key defensive posts are held down by Rory Thompson and the combative Stephen May, and if they can develop these players into the future, the rest of their side can build around them.

The Suns went inside their forward arc 49 times against the Tigers for 22 scoring shots, showing their disposal going forward can be very good, and the Hawks will need to ensure Gold Coast don’t get the ball in open space this weekend.

Players to watch

Gary Ablett has returned to the form everyone knows he’s capable of in the last three games, averaging 27.3 disposals, nine clearances and eleven tackles per game, since he had a week off through injury in Round 9.

Tom Lynch has been the massive talking point for the Suns this season, currently sitting third overall in contested marks across the competition.

Lynch has already kicked 39 goals in 2016, and will almost certainly beat his previous season-best of 46 while putting together the best season of his career to date.
