Young Hawk Blake Hardwick has put pen to paper this week, signing a two-year contract extension to keep him at Waverley until at least the end of 2019.

The 20-year-old is currently enjoying a break out season that has seen him average 14 disposals and 4.5 marks across his 17 AFL outings.

Hardwick was also recognised with a Rising Star nomination in Round 15, after an impressive 19 disposal (including 11 intercept possessions) performance against Collingwood.

Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright says the club is pleased to have secured the promising young defender for a further two seasons.

“Both Blake and the club were keen to get a deal finalised and secure his future at the Hawks,” said Wright.

“It’s been really exciting to see the development of our back six this season and Blake’s been a big part of that.

“He’s shown great composure in big moments and has a really strong character and we’re excited to see what he can achieve over the next few years.”
