Review

Cyril Rioli played seven of the first eight games of the season, before succumbing to a high-grade posterior cruciate ligament injury that held him out of the remainder of 2017.

Rioli’s injury was the first of many to key Hawks throughout 2017.

The 28-year old’s numbers were down in his seven appearances this year, as he was unable to return to the form that saw him selected in the previous two All Australian sides.

Rioli returned to the training track in the late stages of the year, and will be ready to go come day one of preseason.

A word from: Adem Yze

“It was obviously a disappointing year for Cyril injury-wise. It was really good to see him training at the end of the year. We’re obviously looking forward to him coming back in and providing the danger that he does in our forward line.

“But, in saying that, at the start of the year Cyril probably wasn’t at the level that he’d expect, being a bit patchy early.

“I think he’d be itching for the start of preseason to come round and get back out there and help the boys. We obviously know what he can do and he is a massive part of our forward line.”
