Jack Fitzpatrick made the single senior appearance for Hawthorn this year, playing in the Round 8 win over the Brisbane Lions at the University of Tasmania Stadium.

The former Demon earned his opportunity after putting together some solid VFL form that saw him average 16 disposals, five marks, two tackles and 25 hit-outs.

Unfortunately that game saw Fitzpatrick suffer a concussion that he was unable to recover from, and he did not play another game for the club.

In August, the 26-year old announced his retirement from the game due to concussion.

One of the most popular members around the club, Fitzpatrick will be sorely missed.

A word from: Adem Yze

“It was obviously a really sad situation with Jack, where he’s been told he’s not going to be able to play footy anymore.

“Earlier in the season he was in really good form at Box Hill level and was producing some strong footy for us.

“It’s a really disappointing situation for him but obviously his health is number one. But, really sad for a young fella to have to end his career prematurely.

“We just hope for the best for him moving forward and with whatever the future holds for him.

“He was a terrific club person and if you gave his work ethic to a lot of other players, they would go a long way to playing a lot of good footy.”
