Kurt Heatherley added four senior games to his career in 2017.

After making his debut in 2016, Heatherley continued to develop his craft as a key backman this year.

His four opportunities at AFL level perhaps didn’t reflect his form in the VFL, with the 22-year old one of Box Hill’s most consistent performers this season.

The Kiwi averaged 17 disposals, seven marks and two tackles at the state league level this year.

A word from: Brett Ratten

“Kurt had four games at senior level this year.

“He has had a very solid VFL season this year. His ability to mark the ball and beat his opponent has been a real shining light for him at VFL level. He is one that has done most things right.

“Probably with the development of Burton, Sicily and Gunston down back has probably meant he has missed out a little bit, which is a bit of a shame, but he has down a lot of good time this season.

“He’s tough and hard, and he is one defender who is very hard to play on. He has a great season at VFL level.”
