After being one of the preseason stand-outs for Hawthorn, Teia Miles was rewarded with an AFL debut in Round 2 against the Adelaide Crows.

Miles produced a solid first game at senior level, collecting 15 disposals, three marks, two tackles and two inside 50s.

The 20-year old played three more AFL games in 2017.

After starting the year in defence, Miles was tasked with a midseason swap of ends, which saw him play the bulk of the second half of the year as a small forward.

The Geelong Falcons product, in his third year at the brown and gold, put together a strong year for Box Hill.

He averaged 16 disposals, six marks, two tackles and booted 12 goals across the year for the Hawthorn affiliate.

A word from: Adem Yze

“Milesy started the season as a half-back flanker and then finished the year as a small forward. He broke his way into the seniors in that forward role, so that’s a really good effort by him to be able to change from one end to the other and have impact, not only at Box Hill level but to be in good enough form to break into the senior side.

“When he did come into the team, he played OK and certainly didn’t look out of place as a small forward. I think he is just one that is going to take a bit of time to put some weight and strength on so that he can match his ambitions of wanting to play senior footy.

“So, that might take a bit of time but his form at Box Hill has been really exciting.”
