Hawthorn VFLW player Rebecca Beeson has received a Rising Star nomimation while playing for GWS in Round 1 of the AFLW.

The versatile forward managed 11 disposals, two marks and three tackles in her side's six-point loss to the Demons on Saturday.

“It’s super exciting, it’s very unexpected,” Beeson told GWS' club website after hearing of the nomination on Tuesday morning.

“I believe I’ve improved so much, coming in from last year - my first season - I feel like I know a lot more about the game and structures and knowing my role in the team."

Despite laying the foundations for a long AFLW career with the Giants in Sydney, Beeson will temporarily relocate to Melbourne at the end of the current AFLW season to play with Hawthorn's new-look VFLW team in 2018.

The club wishes the youngster all the best for the remainder of the AFLW season.
