Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston is set to celebrate his 150th game on Saturday night as the Hawks kick off their 2018 season against Collingwood.

Gunston, who was originally drafted by Adelaide with the 29th pick in the 2009 draft, has become a critical member of the Hawks line-up after crossing from the Crows at the end of 2011.

The Hawks traded picks 24, 46 and 64 to the Crows in exchange for the 193-cm key position player (and selections 53 and 71), and has paid dividends ever since.

The 26-year-old was immortalised as a Hawk after playing a key role in the club’s premiership threepeat of 2013-15, while also led the club’s goal kicking for both the 2015 and ’16 seasons.

After a season last year in which he split his time between forward and defence, Gunston is set to spend the majority of his time back in attack in 2018 with the likes of Ben Stratton and James Frawley returning to the back six from long-term injuries.

Fittingly, Gunston made his debut for the Hawks in Round 1, 2012, against the Magpies, while the Sandringham Dragon product currently averages 15.4 disposals and almost two goals a game over his career.
