Hawks goalkicker Luke Breust has moved into equal third in the race for the 2018 Coleman Medal after kicking a bag of five goals against the Kangaroos on Sunday.

The triple-premiership player has enjoyed his best-ever start to a season, kicking 16 goals after five rounds, and currently sits just three majors behind competition leader Ben Brown.

On track at this rate for a career-best season, Breust’s best haul of 57 goals came back in 2014, in which he kicked the competition's eighth most goals, while he also finished in the AFL’s top ten in 2015 and 2016 with 52 and 47 goals.

The 27-year-old kicked off 2018 with four goals in the Hawks’ win over the Magpies in Round 1, before following it up with bags of three and four against Richmond and Melbourne respectively.

Meanwhile Hawks captain Jarryd Roughead is the side’s next best goalkicker this season with 10 goals.
