James Sicily is set to play his 50^th game when the Hawks meet the Swans in Friday night's beyondblue Cup.

Selected by Hawthorn in the 2013 national draft with Pick 56, the Keilor recruit had a strong first year playing for the Box Hill Hawks, reaching a pinnacle when he was named best on ground in the 2014 Grand Final.

Earning a senior call up in Round 2 of the following year, Sicily went on to play three senior games in 2015.

It was his 2016 season, however, that had people interested. The then-forward earned a Rising Star Nomination in Round 13 after kicking a career-high five goals.

Known for his passionate on-field personality, the 23 year old’s ball skills and footy smarts cannot be underestimated. After switching to the backline midway through 2017, the gravity-defying Hawk found career-best form showcasing his elite kicking skills and sure hands, with intensity to match.

Over the final ten weeks of last season alone, he averaged a remarkable 24.1 possessions, 9.1 marks and 2.2 contested marks earning rave reviews for his reading of the play.

His start to 2018 hasn't been without controversy, with Sicily receiving two suspensions for misconduct. However, his performances have been as good as (if not better than) ever, with the electrifying Hawk receiving a 'best on ground' nod as recently as Round 7.
