Hawthornfc.com.au celebrates the decorated career of club great Cyril Rioli with a look below at some of the greatest goals of his career.

Round 6, 2008 v Richmond

Playing just his sixth game at AFL level, Rioli crumbed a spoiled ball in the forward pocket before bursting forward, shrugging off Tigers legend Matthew Richardson and dribbling through an incredible goal from the boundary line.

Round 7, 2009 v Essendon

Trailing the Bombers by 10 points in the second term, Rioli forced a turn-over across half forward before gathering the ball, dancing around three opponents and dishing the ball off to teammate Chance Bateman. Receiving the immediate handball back, Rioli streamed forward, drilling the goal from 40 metres out. The scintillating piece of play was aptly recognized, receiving the 2009 goal of the year award.  

Grand final, 2008 v Geelong

With the side five points up against the Cats at a crucial stage late in the third quarter, Rioli swiftly crumbed a spoiled Lance Franklin mark before running into an open goal, helping further turn the momentum the Hawks’ way.

Round 7, 2014 v St Kilda

Stealing the ball off the Saints through the middle of the ground, Rioli ran forward before dishing off a handball back to teammate Isaac Smith. Smith gave the ball back to Rioli who, off a couple of steps, sent the ball through for a long goal from 40 metres out.

Round 3, 2014 v Fremantle

Launching himself high into the air, Rioli pulled off an absolute screamer of a mark inside 50 over the top of opponent Lee Spur. Landing on his feet, Rioli played on, dodging around Dockers defender Cameron Sutcliffe before snapping a great left-foot goal.
