Hawthorn fans have known it for a while, but today it was made official; Harry Morrison is one of the competition’s ‘Rising Stars’.

Morrison was named the Round 20 Rising Star nominee after an impressive performance against the Bombers. He managed 22 disposals, six marks, 15 pressure acts and eight score involvements in a rounded performance, and could have added a big goal to his game were it not overturned by the goal review system.

Drafted to Waverley with Pick 74 in the 2016 National Draft, the 19-year-old earned his first AFL call up in the last round of the 2017 home and away season.

With an impressive 21-disposal performance to open his account, the youngster has since added another 16 games to his tally in 2018, averaging 15 disposals and five marks. 

GM-Football Graham Wright says the club has been pleased with the youngster’s rapid development over the past 18 months.

“Harry’s played 16 of a possible 19 games this year,” Wright said.

 “He’s a smart young player, he’s got great endurance and he is extremely versatile, so he’s been an important inclusion for our club. 

“We’re really happy he’s getting some recognition.”
