All Australian Hawks

All Australian: The Trio Three Hawks were honoured with spots on the All Australian side this year.

Three Hawks have been recognised in the 2018 All Australian team.

After previously been selected in the 40-man squad three times – the most of any current player without having been awarded a blazer - Jack Gunston has finally broken into the starting 22, named in the forward pocket.

Gunston booted 48 goals in 2018 - a significant tally given that he split his time between forward and defence.

Tom Mitchell and Luke Breust have both received their second All Australian blazers, following selections in 2017 and 2014 respectively.

Named ruck rover in the 2018 line up, Mitchell put together a stunning home-and-away campaign, where he again led the league in disposals and clearances. He is currently a hot favourite to take out the 2018 Brownlow Medal.

Breust was arguably the best small forward in the competition this year, and was rewarded with a position in the forward pocket opposite Gunston. The 27-year-old finished the first 23 rounds with 53 majors and a top five finish in the Coleman Medal, while also averaging a career-best 16.1 disposals.

Minor premiers Richmond had the largest contigent of All Australian players this year with four, followed by the Hawks and Eagles (three). 12 clubs were represented in the 22-man side.
