Young Hawthorn trio Nick Watson, Cam Mackenzie and Josh Weddle have been selected in the 2026 AFL Players' Association 22under22 squad.

The final fan-voted team will be announced on Wednesday 19 August, with the brown and gold faithful encouraged to VOTE HERE and include all three players in their line-ups. 

Watson's squad selection is a credit to his outstanding 2026 campaign so far. 

The 21-year-old livewire is currently third in the Coleman Medal race, with 52 goals from his 18 games this year. 

Watson also recently became the first player 170cm or shorter to kick 50+ goals in an AFL season since 1946. 

Along with his elite rating of 2.9 goals per game for his position, the star forward is averaging 13.2 disposals and 2.6 tackles per match, ranking above average for his position in those two categories. 

With increased midfield minutes, Mackenzie has shone brightly in season 2026. 

The 22-year-old is averaging 20.7 disposals, 4.4 tackles and 3.6 clearances from his 18 games this year. 

In his fourth season at the elite level, Mackenzie has 64 matches to his name and recently inked a new two-year extension with the club. 

Weddle's 22under22 squad inclusion comes off the back of another solid year in the brown and gold.

Like Mackenzie, Weddle is also in his fourth season at the elite level, averaging 16.2 disposals, 352.7 metres gained and 2.5 tackles from his 17 appearances. 

With 77 games under his belt already, the 22-year-old has become an important cog in Hawthorn's line-up, showcasing his versatility all over the field.
