Grant Birchall has recommitted to the Hawks, signing a contract extension until 2019.

Birchall is one of the Hawks' most decorated servants, playing in four premierships in 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The 28-year old Tasmanian is also set for another milestone next season as he sits only ten games away from his 250th.

Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said the Hawks were keen to lock away the reliable defender before he entered next year as an unrestricted free agent.

“Grant is a really important player for us and a vital member of our backline,” he said.

“He has been a part of this club for over ten years now and we were really keen to retain him.

“We are really pleased that Grant has signed on for another two seasons and believe he has plenty of good footy ahead of him.”
