25 Years of Flying the Flag
Twenty-five years ago, we found a second home in Tasmania. From the winter afternoons at the traditionally named York Park (then Aurora Stadium, and now UTAS Stadium) where we built a fortress together, to seeing the Brown and Gold woven into the landscape, it has been a journey like no other.
But in fact our special relationship with Tasmania started decades earlier with the magic of legendary Tasmanian Peter Hudson pulling on the brown and gold and setting the benchmark for all who followed both within and outside of Hawthorn. Our modern story has since been built by the local heroes who call this state home. It is your support that spurred us on to the wins that proved we belonged, and in return, we are proud of the work we do to support every corner of the state.
Launceston has always been the heart of this journey and the home base that welcomed us as family. We are proud of our history here, but even prouder of the community we’ve built with you.
As the saying goes, “If you embrace Hawthorn, Hawthorn will embrace you.” For 25 years, our Tassie fans have done exactly that. You’ve shown us what it means to be a Hawk, and we are so incredibly grateful to have you as an integral part of our story.
