Hawthorn has revealed the club’s first ever AFLX squad, with a mixture of senior and emerging players set to pull on the brown and gold at Etihad Stadium this Friday night.

Hawthorn Vice Captain Liam Shiels has been named captain for the round-robin tournament, while Development Coach Max Bailey will assume senior coaching responsibilities.

Hawks supporters will have the opportunity to watch several fan favourites try their hand at the new format, including Jack Gunston, Luke Breust and James Sicily.

The club will also unveil a number of emerging talents, with 2017 draftees James Worpel, Jackson Ross and David Mirra all set to make their first appearance in the brown and gold.

Hawthorn will face off against Essendon at 7.08pm, before a 9pm game against the Saints.

They will need to win each of their clashes in order to make it through to the grand final, where they will meet the winner of Pool A – either Carlton, Melbourne or North Melbourne.
