Following a nail-biting draw between the two teams in Round 8, Hawthorn and Collingwood will take to the MCG for a Saturday night blockbuster in the penultimate round of the 2026 AFL season. 

The Hawks currently sit third on the ladder with 14 wins, six losses and one draw, while the Magpies are ranked eighth with 12 victories, eight losses and also a draw. 

Both teams have won four of their past five matches.

Last time we met 

Collingwood (93) drew with Hawthorn (93) in Round 8, 2026. 

Collingwood and Hawthorn played out an extraordinary 93-93 draw at the MCG under Thursday night lights, with Dylan Moore kicking the equalising goal on the final siren to pinch two points for the Hawks.

Connor Macdonald was one of the best players on the field with three goals and 28 disposals while Nick Watson and Mitch Lewis each kicked two majors.

Along with his wizardry in front of goal, it was Watson's goal assist that also turned heads with just seconds remaining in the third, handballing over the bulk of Billy Frampton, running on to the loose ball and scything a kick into attack for Calsher Dear.

By Train

Jolimont Station is a five-minute walk (350m) through Yarra Park to MCG Gate 2.

Richmond Station is 850m from the MCG.

By Tram

Three tram routes provide access to the MCG:

🟡 Route 75 (City-Vermont South) - Stop 11 Jolimont Station/MCG is 300m from MCG Gate 2.

🟤 Route 48 (Docklands/City-North Balwyn) - Stop 11 Jolimont Station/MCG is 300m from MCG Gate 2.

🟡 Route 70 (Docklands/City-Wattle Park) - the stop is 500m from Gate 2.

By Bus

Bus route 246 stops in Punt Road and is 600m from MCG Gate 3.

By Car

Parking is extremely limited on event days at the MCG. The use of public transport is strongly recommended.

Parking for Australian Disability Parking (ADP) permit holders is available in Yarra Park. More information can be found here.
