Hawthorn’s AFLW side continues to go from strength-to-strength following a pair of significant off-field signings.

In a major coup, fitness guru Olivia Knowles joins the Hawks as AFLW High Performance Manager, having most recently spearheaded the Western Bulldogs women’s program in the same role for the last four seasons.

Meanwhile, former AFL player and current Hawthorn Academy Manager Keegan Brooksby will step up as Strategy and Opposition Coach.

GM – Operations & Major Projects Josh Vanderloo said both are valuable additions.

“Hawthorn is thrilled to welcome Olivia back to the club in a full-time capacity after previously working in our VFLW program four years ago,” Vanderloo said.

“Olivia’s appointment is another example of Hawthorn’s commitment to women in sport.

“She returns with a wealth of knowledge and experience, both from her time at the Western Bulldogs, and through her PhD at Deakin University.

“Keegan has a strong background in elite sport, originally in basketball, and for the last decade within the AFL system at Gold Coast, West Coast and Hawthorn.

“Currently leading our academy programs, Keegan will now work closely with AFLW Senior Coach Bec Goddard in the execution of the team’s game plan.”

AFLW Senior Coach Bec Goddard also welcomed the news.

“I’m thrilled to bring in someone with Keegan’s experience who has strong passion for women’s football, and an ability to connect with players and staff,” Goddard said.

Hawthorn will begin its inaugural AFLW season later this year.
