Hawthorn will be bolstered by the return of Jack Scrimshaw this weekend, with the 23-year-old defender named to make his return against Gold Coast in Darwin.

Scrimshaw has recovered from a shoulder complaint that forced him out as a late withdrawal last week, missing just the one game.

Classy first-year Hawk Connor Macdonald is also among the inclusions for the Hawks, as they travel to the Top End to play for premiership points for the first time in club history.

Head of Football Rob McCartney said both players are welcome additions.

“It was unfortunate Jack missed last week as a late out,” McCartney said.

“We are really pleased to see Jack back fully fit, as he provides us with some strong drive out of defence.”

“Connor re-joins the side after benefiting from a rest last week. As a first-year player, we look forward to seeing him continue to develop and play his role.”

Ruckman Max Lynch (concussion) will miss the trip through concussion protocols, while Jaeger O’Meara (hamstring) has been ruled out with injury.

Kyle Hartigan (last week's medical sub) has been named among four emergencies.

Head of Football Rob McCartney said the decision to sideline O’Meara was a conservative one.

"Jaeger reported some tightness in his hamstring in the last couple of days,” McCartney said.

“Knowing we have the long flight to Darwin ahead of us, we opted to take a precautionary approach with this one.

“We'd expect him to be available next week."

Hawthorn will continue to acknowledge the valuable contributions of Indigenous and First Nations communities this Saturday night during the second week of Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
