Emily Everist is set to make her AFLW debut ahead of the Hawks' clash with Sydney at the Swinburne Centre on Friday night.

Everist will become Hawthorn's 17th debutant of the season as the club continues to develop young talent on its list.

The Hawks selected the Bendigo Pioneers product with Pick 25 in the 2022 AFLW national draft.

Everist had a solid 2022 NAB League Girls campaign, averaging 8.5 disposals, 1.6 marks and 1.6 rebound 50s from eight appearances.

She then earned a spot in Vic Country’s NAB AFLW National Championships side, taking her game to the next level with 10.3 disposals, three tackles and two marks.

The athletic defender boasts impressive endurance, having ranked fourth nationally in the AFLW combine 2km time trial.

Hawthorn AFLW Senior Coach Bec Goddard said she was excited to see Everist perform at the elite level.

"Emily has seen a steep rate of improvement in her game over the course of pre-season and the early stages of this season," Goddard said.

"With her height and athleticism, she provides us with some flexibility which is a really valuable commodity in our team at the moment.

"The fact that we have been able to now blood 17 debutants this season really speaks to our intent on developing our youth and pursuing progression from within."
