How to Buy Tickets to a Hawthorn AFL Game
Watching the Hawks in flight is an experience like no other.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about buying AFL tickets; from membership perks, to finding your perfect seat.
1. Where to Buy Official Hawthorn AFL Tickets
To ensure your tickets are valid and at the correct price, always purchase through the AFL's official ticketing partners. The platform depends on the venue:
MCG Matches: Tickets are sold via Ticketek
UTAS Stadium & Marvel Stadium Matches: Tickets are sold via Ticketmaster
Pro Tip: Avoid third-party reseller sites. Purchase tickets via the official links provided on the Hawthorn AFL Fixture Page to guarantee entry.
2. Understanding Ticket Categories & Stadium Levels
Ticket Categories
Reserved Seating: Guarantees you a specific seat (row and seat number). Recommended for "blockbuster" games like our Easter Monday clash against the Cats.
General Admission (GA): Offers flexibility to sit in designated GA bays on a first-come, first-served basis. Perfect for a casual, or more affordable day out at the footy.
Fully Ticketed Games: For high-demand matches, there may be no GA access. In these cases, even GA members must "upgrade" to a reserved seat via the ticketing agent using their barcode.
Stadium Levels
Most AFL venues are tiered to offer different perspectives of the game.
Level 1 (Ground Level): The closest you can get to the action. Ideal for fans who want to hear the hits and be near the fence.
Levels 2 & 3 (Middle Tiers): Often considered the "best seats in the house," offering an elevated, TV-style view of the whole ground.
Level 4 (Top Tier): Provides a tactical "birds-eye" view. Great for seeing the players' patterns and the most budget-friendly for families.
3. Membership v General Public
The best way to experience Hawthorn Football Club is as a member. Members enjoy our Member Rewards program, exclusive merchandise items & more.
Club Members: Most Hawthorn memberships include game access. Depending on your membership tie, you can either scan your digital membership card at the gate for General Admission entry, or use your barcode to upgrade to a discounted reserved seat during the member pre-sale window. There are plenty of membership options for any fan, find more information on our membership website.
General Public: If you aren't a member, tickets will be available to purchase on the Hawthorn AFL Fixture Page.
4. Digital Ticketing & the Hawks App
Gone are the days of paper tickets! In 2026, you can access all AFL tickets digitally.
All tickets purchased are digital, meaning you can easily access tickets on your phone via your Ticketmaster or Ticketek account, add them straight to your phone’s ticket wallet and share them with your friends and family using the ticket forward function.
