President Jeff Kennett and CEO Justin Reeves have penned the following letter to members...

Dear members,

After a week of uncertainty, we are pleased to confirm we finally have an answer from AFL HQ: Round 1 will be kicking off this weekend!

This is a great result under the circumstances, for all Hawks fans. Our players and coaches are primed and ready to go. They have been preparing meticulously for the moment they can run out onto the MCG to take on the Lions.

While it won’t be the same without our members and supporters in the crowd cheering us on, the circumstances will only strengthen Hawthorn’s hunger to deliver a win for those watching at home.

We want to reiterate that the health and safety of all our people and the wider community remains the AFL’s and our number one priority. If the advice from medical experts changes in the next couple of days, or weeks, the AFL and we will listen carefully and accept any decision that comes our way.

We would particularly like to thank all of our wonderful members who have demonstrated their unwavering support to the club in the last few days. We’ve received emails, messages via social media, and had hundreds of people call our membership team to pledge their support and renew and confirm their memberships.

We are so mindful that everyone is facing their own unique challenges at present, so to see so many members rally around the Hawthorn Football Club, demonstrates how much football truly means to you all.

From all of us here at the Hawks – thank you.

We’ll be in touch soon. In the meantime please check out all of our updated content at hawthornfc.com.au or through our social media channels.

Stay safe. Go Hawks! It’s time to beat those Lions.

Jeff Kennett and Justin Reeves
