Star Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin recently chose Luke Hodge as the best player he had played with.
After a long moment of consideration, the four-time All Australian said his current captain just edged out Shane Crawford, Sam Mitchell and Cyril Rioli.
"He's an unbelievable player," Franklin said.
"Always consistent, you know what you're going to get with him every time, hard as a bull, and he sets the example for all the players coming through."
