Season summary:

Club champion Shaun Burgoyne called time on an incredibly decorated career that spanned over 21 seasons at the end of 2021.

He finishes his career sitting at third spot for all-time VFL/AFL games played.

In Round 16 this year, he became just the fifth player in the game’s history to notch 400 games.

The 38-year-old reached the impressive milestone against his former side Port Adelaide.

It was the crowning moment in a career that has also featured four premierships – three in the brown and gold and one with Port Adelaide – an All Australian honour and the all-time Indigenous games record tally.

Despite the versatile veteran sometimes delegated as his side's medical substitute throughout 2021, he continued to make a valuable contribution playing both in defence and up forward.

Best AFL game:

Ironically, Burgoyne's best outing this season came in his final game in the Round 23 clash against Richmond, where he collected 21 disposals.
