Footy is officially back this week with the first pre-season hit-outs of the year finally here. 

Hawthorn will head down the highway to take on Geelong in a match simulation this Thursday at GMHBA Stadium from 4pm. 

Access to the game will be free for the public from 3.30pm via Gates 8 and 13.

The match will consist of eight 30-minute play periods with both AFL and VFL listed players participating in the match.

A week later, the Hawks will fly to Tasmania to take on Collingwood in an official practice game at UTAS Stadium from 5.10pm.

All 18 clubs will then have a week off before the 2023 premiership season begins, with Hawthorn's season opener scheduled for Sunday March 19 against Essendon at the MCG.

Teams for the match simulations will be announced by the clubs on the day of the match, while teams for the official practice games will be released at 5pm AEDT the day before the match.

These matches will also be live streamed on Kayo and broadcast on Foxtel.
