Hawthorn is delighted to announce the signing of Hayen Auber to its Wheelchair AFL team.

Auber is the club’s first new signing for the 2023 Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) season, following the recommitment of 2022 captain Jo Argaet and young guns Yassin Hill and Finn Broadbent.

Like Hill and Broadbent, Auber is a star wheelchair tennis player.

The 25-year-old also has experience in softball, featuring in Australia’s first wheelchair softball competition in 2019.

As a lifelong Hawthorn supporter, Auber was delighted to put pen to paper with the brown and gold.

“I’m thrilled to join the Hawks Wheelchair AFL team for the 2023 VWFL season,” Auber said.

“I’m really impressed by what the Hawks are building in this space, having heard tremendous things from my fellow crosscoders Finn and Yassin.

“Having supported Hawthorn my entire life, I was truly overwhelmed when two of my favourite AFL players in Jai Newcombe and Dylan Moore presented me with my Hawks contract and guernsey.

“I can’t wait to get to work with the team and build on a promising 2022 season in 2023.”
