With her first season at the Hawks interrupted by an ankle injury, it was great to see Louise Stephenson back out on the park consistently in 2023.

The 28-year-old suited up for six of the first seven games of the year, doubling her three games from 2022.

She continued to be a reliable member of Hawthorn's defence, showcasing her experience at often crucial times in games.

Round 5 v Brisbane 

An established side like Brisbane was always going to be a challenge for a young and developing Hawks outfit.

But by half-time, they found themselves in the lead at Kinetic Stadium and Stephenson played a big part of that in defence. 

The 28-year-old recorded 12 disposals, 12 intercepts and took four marks, all while trying to keep Dakota Davidson at bay for the Lions. 

In the end, Stephenson conceded just one goal to Davidson before the match-up was switched.
