The coaches have recognised a trio of Hawks for their performances in Hawthorn's five-point loss against Collingwood on Sunday night at the Adelaide Oval.

Blake Hardwick led the way for the brown and gold with a career-high four majors to go with 15 disposals, seven marks and seven score involvements.

After beginning the game in the defensive 50, the 27-year-old made the switch to the forward line and very nearly led the Hawks to a win, with three of his majors coming in the third quarter and five of his seven marks being taken inside 50.

The coaches ranked Hardwick as the second-best player on the ground, rewarding him with six votes. He was four behind Collingwood's Jordan De Goey, who received a perfect 10 votes.

Star duo Karl Amon and Jai Newcombe rounded out the votes with three and two, respectively.

Amon was impressive in Adelaide, recording a team-high 28 disposals and a game-high 903 metres-gained to go with seven marks.

In the midfield, it was Newcombe who dominated with 26 disposals to complement an equal career-high 10 clearances and a game-high six inside 50s.

The 22-year-old also kicked a goal and laid seven tackles.

Hawthorn now shifts its focus to the Gold Coast where the Suns await at People First Stadium.

The two teams will go head-to-head in a Saturday night clash, with the Hawks searching for their first win of the year.
