Versatile Hawk Blake Hardwick has been crowned as Hawthorn's Round 10 MVP after another incredible performance at Adelaide Oval.

In the team's one-point loss against Yartapuulti on Sunday, the 27-year-old played arguably one of the best games of his career.

Starting the day up forward, Hardwick's impact was felt immediately as he kicked four first-quarter goals to give the Hawks a 31-point lead at the first change.

He then spent the day shifting from forward 50 to defensive 50, adding another goal to his tally in the third quarter to finish with a career-high five majors.

Hardwick finished the match with 23 disposals, nine score involvements, six marks, four tackles and 526 metres gained.

Of his 19 career goals, nine of those have been kicked at Adelaide Oval, backing up his four-goal performance against Collingwood in Gather Round (Round 4) earlier this year.

Speaking post-game, Senior Coach Sam Mitchell praised Hardwick's efforts in the narrow loss.

"I kind of wanted him at both ends," Mitchell said.

"He's been a fantastic player for us for a long time and I'm glad he's getting some reward.

"It always felt to me like he was capable of kicking a few goals in the forward line.

"It hadn't quite clicked for him yet.

"Even today, he kicked four in the first quarter and finished with five.

"I think he's going to be a continued work in progress in his role and where he can play but he's obviously a fantastic asset for us."
