A trio of Hawks could return for Hawthorn’s Round 18 clash with Fremantle on Saturday afternoon, with James Sicily, Jack Ginnivan and Calsher Dear all to undertake tests to prove themselves fit to play.

High performance Manager Peter Burge provided an update on the trio and their likelihood of being available this week, whilst also providing further details on Mitch Lewis’ ACL injury.

James Sicily – Shoulder - Test

“Yeah progressing really well. His strength measures have improved each session, each time we’ve tested them. We had him out there today doing all of our drills, so the plan of attack for Thursday is to fully train this Thursday and then we’ll make an assessment off the back of main training for his availability on the weekend”

Jack Ginnivan – Knee - Test

“Jack just presented with some soreness around his knee, it was a little bit unclear what we were dealing with. He did a running session last Thursday and was in a little bit of discomfort, further scans showed he actually had a very small hairline fracture at the top of his fibular, it’s not a crack through the fibular, it’s the top, a very small crack. So this will all be based on function and how he feels, and they usually turn around very quickly. He’s progressed a little bit since last week but we expect it to improve quite quickly over the next week, whether that means he’ll be training this Thursday and playing on the weekend, we’ll have to wait and see on Thursday. But I would say if it’s not this week it’ll be definitely next week but he’s improving.”

Calsher Dear – Ribs - Test

“Yeah really good, he’s just played a lot of AFL this year and it’s just added up somewhat over the weeks and he was just sore, so we made the decision to give him a break last week and get rid of those sore spots and recover really well. He’s trained today, he’ll train again on Thursday and I expect him to be available providing all goes well on Thursday.”

Mitch Lewis – Knee - Season

“Obviously devastating for him and everyone around him, but particularly Mitch himself, he’s dealt with a bit in his previous history. So it’s an ACL injury, we’re going to get some further advice from specialists later in the week and what that actually means moving forward, so we’ll keep everyone up to date with that. Earlier last year he dealt with an ACL sprain issue, that was his other leg so this is a completely new injury, a different injury all together, it’s just horrible luck and he hasn’t had much of it. Our thoughts are with him, the club's thoughts are with him, everyone’s thoughts are with him and you know we’ve just got to wrap our arms around him and support him as best we can and look forward to a strong rehab over the next period of time.”
