Hawthorn duo Cam Mackenzie and Jack Scrimshaw will both undergo tests to prove their fitness ahead of the team's Thursday night blockbuster against Gold Coast in Darwin.

There has been one addition to the injury list ahead of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round game, with Luke Breust sidelined due to a back injury.

High Performance Manager Peter Burge also confirmed that ruckman Lloyd Meek and forward Jack Gunston would be managed for the Sir Doug Nicholls Round match in the Top End.

"Jack Gunston and Lloyd Meek have had quite big workloads already in the season," Burge said.

"Lloyd's played in every game and Jack has played in all but two.

"We did have some plans in place working back a couple of weeks as to what this would look like and given the situation and where we are and how they are more importantly, we've taken the opportunity to manage them this week.

"So they're still back in Melbourne doing a managed program. We'll prepare them for the game against Brisbane next week."

Cam Mackenzie - hand (test) 

"He's tracking really well. He's had two sessions, one last Thursday and one on Saturday, he actually did quite a bit of work on Saturday and was able to do some ball handling and some kicking. So he's a test and he's down to fully train tonight but we'll need to have a closer look at his function and how he feels but the plan for him is to fully train then we'll make an assessment on his availability after training tonight." 

Jack Scrimshaw - concussion (test) 

"Jack has missed two games with concussion protocols. He resumed training last week and trained solid over the weekend. He'll train fully tonight (Tuesday) with the group under lights up here in Darwin."

Luke Breust - back (1-2 weeks) 

"Luke Breust actually suffered quite a nasty knock to his back and is quite sore. At this stage, we've listed him as missing this game but we probably need a bit more time to see how this resolves in the next week."
