Box Hill Hawks VFLW fell short against Collingwood by two points on Saturday at Victoria Park, despite a spirited last-quarter surge.

The Hawks were slow out of the blocks, managing just two behinds in the opening half as Collingwood built a commanding lead. The Magpies’ midfield dominance and efficient ball movement saw them control much of the play, leaving Box Hill with a significant deficit at the main break.

However, the Hawks showed resilience in the final term. Paige Price sparked the comeback attempt with two quick goals, injecting energy into the side. Despite the late momentum, the gap proved too large to overcome, and the Hawks were unable to complete the turnaround.

Tess Cattle continued her strong form, notching 22 disposals in a standout individual display, while Isla Baldwin (19),  and Stasia Stevenson (18) worked tirelessly around the contest. Price led the goal count for the Hawks with two majors in the fourth quarter.

The loss brings Box Hill’s record to 3–2, still well placed in the early stages of the season. The team will look to bounce back and return to the winners’ list, hosting the Bulldogs at Box Hill City Oval this Saturday at 2.35pm.
