The Box Hill Hawks VFLW side returned to the winners’ list with a commanding 34-point victory over the Western Bulldogs at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks late surge in the second half saw them bounce back to secure the win after two consecutive losses.
Despite a slow start, the Hawks found their spark late, kicking six unanswered goals in a dominant final term to finish, 8.8 (56) to 3.4 (22). The result lifts Box Hill to a 4–2 record.
Stasia Stevenson and Gabby Collingwood were central to the turnaround, each hitting the scoreboard and lifting the Hawks’ forward intensity. Tess Cattle was outstanding in the middle, collecting 25 disposals and driving the ball forward with purpose. Jess Matin celebrated her second goal with style, whilst Rosie Dillon (22 disposals) and Isla Baldwin (20 disposals) provided plenty of support.
The Bulldogs were held to just one goal in the final quarter as Box Hill’s backline clamped down and turned defence into attack with ease.
The Hawks will be energised by the return to form and look to carry that momentum into their Round 7 clash against Essendon at Windy Hill, this Saturday.
