Hawthorn midfielder Finn Maginness has spent the night at Royal Hobart Hospital after suffering injury to his kidney.
Maginness reported mild abdominal discomfort after the club’s Round 19 match against Port Adelaide, and the decision was made to send him to Launceston General Hospital for further investigations where the kidney laceration was diagnosed.
Maginness was then flown to Hobart overnight where he underwent a procedure to repair the laceration.
Head Club Doctor Liam West said Maginness was expected to spend some time in Hobart before being able to return to Melbourne.
“Finn’s health is clearly our number one priority, and right now, the most important thing is that Finn is ok, is in the right place and he will recover fully,” West said.
“Finn will continue to spend this initial period of medical observation during his recovery in Hobart before any timeline for his return to play can be determined.
“We want to take this opportunity to thank the medical staff at LGH & the Royal Hobart for the fantastic care they have provided Finn.”
