Star recruit Najwa Allen is set to make her club debut in Hawthorn’s Round 1 clash against Brisbane this Sunday at Brighton Homes Arena.

After playing 45 games over five seasons for the Adelaide Crows, including the 2022 premiership, Allen will run out in brown and gold for the first time after arriving at Hawthorn during the 2024 AFLW Trade Period.

Following an injury-interrupted 2024, Allen has returned to full fitness on the back of a strong pre-season, putting her in a strong position to perform in new colours come Round 1 this Sunday afternoon.

Hawthorn General Manager of Football Operations Max Bailey said Allen has been a welcome addition to the group.

“Najwa has been a natural leader since she first stepped into the club, a valuable presence both on and off the field,” he said.

“We’re excited by what she brings to our group with her knowledge and experience, and the high standard she sets for herself and those around her.

“We’re looking forward to seeing her in action in the brown and gold on Sunday.”

Hawthorn will release its squad for Round 1 tonight at 6.20pm, before the final team is announced on Friday at 5pm.
