In his 16th AFL season, Jack Gunston has enjoyed a career-day out at the MCG, which has seen him claim the fan-voted Superhero of the Week for Round 23.

Like a fine wine, the 33-year-old Hawk continues to get better with age - booting 7.4 to match his career-best single-game haul for the second time this season.

His seven-goal bag took his season tally to 60 majors from just 19 games in 2025, smashing his previous season-high of 58 goals from 23 games more than a decade ago (2014).

Gunston's best-on-ground performance has further strengthened his case for an All Australian blazer in 2025, with his Senior Coach Sam Mitchell claiming the veteran would now be a 'lock' for the side.

"He's started the majority of this year and even last year as basically a defensive forward," Mitchell said.

"Now, to be – I would say – a lock for the All-Australian side, it's a pretty special time for him as a 33-year-old.

"What he's been able to do on the field is probably beyond most of our thoughts and dreams."
