Hawthorn has made two changes for its first Indigenous Round game of 2025 against the Western Bulldogs at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday night.

As mentioned previously, emerging ruck/ forward Elli Symonds will make her AFLW debut, coming into the team alongside star defender Jenna Richardson.

Symonds joined the Hawks in the 2024 National Draft at Pick 45 as a ruck/ forward utility from the Dandenong Stingrays, averaging 18 disposals, 11 hitouts and six tackles, as well as kicking three goals across 19 games in two seasons.

Richardson will suit up for her first game in 2025 after missing the first two rounds with a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old made the All Australian squad last year off the back of ranking first in the competition for marks with 70 and second in intercept possessions with 95.

Coming out of the side are Lavinia Cox and Jess Vukic, who have both been omitted.

Hawthorn General Manager of Football Max Bailey congratulated Symonds on her debut.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Elli, one we're certain she'll take with both hands," Bailey said.

“Elli competes really hard and is always keen to learn, which will hold her in good stead this weekend and as she continues to develop as a footballer.

“We're all looking forward to seeing her use her strengths and play her role for the team come Saturday night at Whitten Oval.”
