Hawthorn wishes to advise of the sad passing of Life Member John Kilpatrick.

John's connection with the club spanned across four decades, initially serving as a fitness advisor during the 1980s and 1990s.

In the 1989 Grand Final, John would become part of footy folklore as attended to an injured Dermott Brereton after being crunched by Geelong's Mark Yates following the opening bounce.

In the same year, John received Life Membership at Hawthorn, before going on to filling several other roles across match day and rehab during his tenure at the club.

In 2012, he was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the game with the AFL Coaches Support Staff Leadership Award.

Hawthorn extends its sincere condolences to John's family and friends during this difficult time.
