Hawthorn is proud to be hosting its first Cultural Heritage Series match of 2026 on Thursday night against Sydney at the MCG. 

The Cultural Heritage Series brings together the AFL and all 18 clubs to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Australian Football. 

As part of this initiative at Thursday night’s match, Hawthorn will be activating a range of special initiatives to build its connection to the Chinese community in Melbourne. 

Hawthorn is proud to celebrate inclusiveness and belonging among its members and fans, and the Club encourages everyone to get along to Thursday night’s game to join in the celebrations and what is sure to be a great game of Football. 

Hawthorn Chief Commercial Officer Jo Gilbert said:

“Along with hosting our first home game of the year on Thursday night, we are proud to be celebrating the many wonderful cultures that make up our great game as part of our 2026 Cultural Heritage Series match. We also look forward to hosting the Consul General Fang and significant other key dignitaries as part of our program”.

“For those who can’t make it, there will be another opportunity to celebrate at our second Cultural Heritage Series match against Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium in Round 6.”
