Flynn Perez is set to make a dream debut for Hawthorn on Easter Monday, after being named to take on Geelong in the traditional blockbuster at the MCG.

The 24-year-old’s call up comes just a month after officially joining the Hawks as a pre-season supplemental selection.

Perez has impressed over several months at the Kennedy Community Centre, having been a train-on player at the Club since pre-Christmas last year.

The former North Melbourne defender played 24 games for the Kangaroos from 2020-2023 before being delisted following an injury-interrupted four seasons at the highest level.

Through two appearances for Box Hill this season, the damaging half-back has averaged 18 disposals and six marks per outing.

Executive General Manager of Football Rob McCartney congratulated Perez on his well-deserved selection.

“For Flynn to be given another opportunity at AFL level is very exciting for him, his family and friends, and everyone at Hawthorn,” McCartney said.

“Having been with us for most of the pre-season, Flynn has demonstrated his readiness for the highest level with his competitiveness and strong ball use from half back.

“It will be a special moment to cherish when he pulls on the brown and gold guernsey for the first time on Easter Monday.”
