In a quirky, yet fitting occasion, Karl Amon will play his 200th AFL game this Saturday afternoon against his former side, Port Adelaide.
The East Sandringham product was selected by Port Adelaide with Pick 68 in the 2013 draft. He spent 2014 playing in the SANFL, before making his AFL debut in Round 7 of 2015 against the Brisbane Lions.
He played 124 games for the Power across nine seasons, during which he was named in the 2021 All-Australian squad of 40, narrowly missing the final team. And in 2022 he was Port’s leading Brownlow vote-getter with 15 votes.
Amon then joined the Hawks ahead of the 2023 season as an unrestricted free agent in a move home to Victoria.
Making his brown and gold debut in Round 1 of 2023 against Essendon, Amon wasted no time in becoming an integral part to the Hawks’ unit.
Karl was a super addition to our line-up in 2023. 🚀

Consistent and ever-reliable, the 30-year-old defender has missed just four games across his four seasons at the Club, to date.
Season 2025 was arguably a career-best year for Amon, ranking elite in his position for metres gained (596.1 per game) and kicks (17 per game) and ranked above average in disposals (24) and handballs (7).
His stellar season saw him finish Runner Up in the 2025 Peter Crimmins Medal count, marking the first time in career that he’d made the podium in a club best and fairest count.
Amon, who is a proud Noonuccal man, was was also named in the Indigenous All Stars team in 2025, where he finished with 19 disposals and six marks.
Amon sat down for an interview with teammate, Jarman Impey to reflect on the journey to 200 games.
“It’s pretty cool, I think it’s something that you’ll probably look back on and reflect after your career, but I think you just tick little milestones off each part—like obviously you just want to play one game and then 100,” Amon said.
“But from the outset, I think 200 was always, you know, the big goal of mine. It didn’t look like it early days, but I think getting to this point now, it’s a pretty cool achievement to get here.”
